The team is dead... long live the virtual team
The team we now live in - the Virtual team
So, we now have a new concept of teams - the Virtual team. A Virtual team is completely different from the traditional teams studied by Larson, LaFasto and other experts.
A Virtual team is a team of Free Agents where the whole is the sum of the parts.
In effect, a Virtual team is a team of people who place their commitment to themselves above their commitment to the team. As shown in Figure 2, the relationship or "glue" between team members is not based on a personal relationship or, in Larson and LaFastos' terms emotional commerce, but rather, on a formal or informal professional relationship.
