Ann Smith
Ann has experience in information technology and business projects for over 20 years
in the private, community and public sectors. This work experience has involved Ann in
all aspects of practical application development, management, education and support work.
It includes System Manager for RADCOM Project, Spectrum Management Agency, Director,
Business Solutions & Services, at Australian Industrial Property Organisation, Branch
Software Manager, MDS-Qantel (Australia) Pty Ltd and Administrative and Clerical
Officers' Association, SA Branch. At SMA, she managed the $10,000,000 RADCOM development
project. As Director (BS&S) she implemented documented structured project management
techniques; and steered up to ten team leaders to successful delivery of up to 150
projects per annum, ranging from very small up to 30-35 person-years. She had
responsibility for requirements analysis, implementation and support of
commercially-oriented systems for MDS-Qantel across WA. She was responsible for training
new starters in the workplace at AIPO as well as at ACOA, and was a trainer for and
administrator of the ACOA's internal training programme for the S.A. Branch (a training
programme of up to 1,000 student days per year delivered by a pool of 10-20 contract
trainers). With MDS-Qantel and, with ACOA, she developed and presented staff training and
client training in computer familiarization, applications and operations procedures and
use of general software such as spreadsheets, word processors, etc. She also advised on
the appropriateness of various training options. As an independent consultant Ann has
consulted with clients including Department of Family & Community Services and
Department of Health & Aged Care. In partnership with thomsett INTERNATIONAL, Ann has presented public and in-house Workshops. Clients have
included Tower Life, Sealcorp, and the Departments of Health and Aged Care, and
Parliamentary Reporting Staff (Canberra). Ann is a Member of the Australian Computer
Society, and is affiliated with Software Engineering Australia, and the Australian
Association for Professional and Applied Ethics.
