Camille Thomsett
In 1978 Camille moved from a career in medical technology laboratory work into the Australian Federal Government's Department of Science. She then transitioned in the Department from policy development into information services providing business analysis and data entry.
In 1980, Camille and Rob Thomsett commenced their project management education and consulting partnership. In 1985 they established their innovative company around the corporate values of simplicity and transparency to provide:
- interactive knowledge transfer and skills development to clients;
- team based, open and participative processes;
- honest conversations around a culture that has recently become to be known as an Agile culture and management; and
- an energized and fun education and consulting environment
As Managing Director of The Thomsett Company (TTC) Camille set the strategic and business directions of the company and established a collaborative network of Australian and international consultants.
Camille co-wrote with Rob, The Busy Person's Project Management Book, Business Systems Analysis: A Pragmatic Approach and the soon to be released People and Project Management: The Agile Revision. Camille's reference book development has included case study and tool set handbooks for project management and business analysis workshops.
In July 2006 TTC combined its company client base with Thomsett Public Workshops, a company presenting TTC's workshops in the public forum under license from TTC, to form Thomsett International (TI). As a Director of TI since its inception, Camille has co-developed and presented the core TI workshops including the Team Leader and Negotiation Skills workshops, the Agile Project Management MasterClass and the Business Analysis Workshop.
With leading organizations moving into Agile project development utilizing Scrum and similar project management methods demanding essential Agile changes in project and team governance and management, Camille and Rob have co-developed and provided Agile programmes of education and consulting and are noted as being in the forefront of thought leadership and practice in emerging Agile cultures.
As a consultant, Camille facilitates:
- Rapid Planning Sessions (RAPs) for Agile Business Case Development;
- Risk assessment and contingency planning;
- Project Benefits Realization methodology development and implementation;
- Quality assurance and technical walkthroughs;
- Business Analysis specification; and
- Organizational team culture and restructure.
Her consulting and education client base includes many leading Australian, New Zealand and UK organisations such as; the Department of Defence, RACV, Telstra, Queensland Health, the South Australian Health Commission, IBM GSA, Perpetual Trustees, the Australian Computer Society, Macquarie Bank, MLC, Lend Lease, Suncorp/Metway, Boral, Caltex Oil, Monash University, Melbourne University, Geoscience Australia, CSIRO Australia, AMP (Australia/UK), Ernst and Young (Australia/USA), Transpower (NZ), Pearl Assurance (UK) and E.on Retail (UK).
Camille has recently returned from the US where she combined a Sabbatical Leave for further study with market research in Agile project management developments.
Camille's qualifications include:
- Graduate Certificate in Management Studies
- Certified Train the Trainer, and
- Certified Myers Briggs Practitioner.
