Tutorial Outline

Quality Software Function Deployment:
Planning for Quality

Foundational Knowledge

This tutorial is designed for people who are familiar with the thomsett PM models and who wish to further explore the processes involved in improving the 'Shipped Quality' of their software.

The Tutorial

Contemporary Quality Assurance approaches recognises the dynamic between product quality and the overall project management process. While it is the project team that will implement the Q.A techniques, they cannot solve the Quality problem without support from business professionals and management.

This one-day tutorial, based on techniques developed by Yoji Akoa for manufacturing, presents a detailed approach to planning software quality and the deployment of the quality requirements across the software development process.

Topics covered include:

  • Quality Function Deployment: a background
  • Quality attributes and criteria
  • Negotiating a Quality Agreement
  • Quality Agreement versus Quality Plan
  • The Quality Agreement
  • Deploying the agreement
  • Developing Baseline Reviews
  • Baseline Quality Reviews
  • Controlling changes in quality
  • Quality metrics
  • Evaluating delivered quality

Documentation

The documentation provided for this briefing contains the fundamental processes required to evaluate, document and manage the quality requirements for your software project.
